Stencils - A Method to Create Patterns
Updated: Jun 22, 2020
I think stencils are a great way to create awesome forms and patterns to be used for printmaking.
Per definition on wikipedia; Stencilling produces an image or pattern by applying pigment to a surface over an intermediate object with designed gaps in it which create the pattern or image by only allowing the pigment to reach some parts of the surface.
There are three subjects that mainly inspired me to prepare my stencils; Iranian pottery motifs, Iranian traditional windows, and pictures in a book I recently bought about medieval ornaments [here].
I have a plan to use them for my other projects such as Rain-Stencils and Monoprints.
